The Cyber 5 Day by Day Plan: Five Days, Five Jobs

Thursday to Cyber Monday are five distinct trading days with different buyers. What each one is for, and the decisions to settle before next week's freeze.

Table of content:

Cyber 5 runs Thursday 26 November to Cyber Monday 30 November this year, and it trades as five different days rather than one long weekend. The buyer changes, the intent changes, and the creative that worked on Friday is the wrong creative by Sunday.

The plan for it needs settling before the freeze next week, because most of what it asks for is campaign structure and creative that has to be in place beforehand. This post sets out what each day is for and what to decide now.

What is Cyber 5?

The five day block from Thanksgiving Thursday through Cyber Monday, which is the highest concentration of discount led buying in the calendar.

It behaves as a single auction event even in the UK, where Thanksgiving is not observed, because the brands competing for the same impressions are running US calendars. That matters for cost: the auction tightens on Thursday whether or not your customers are doing anything that day.

Across the Webtopia portfolio in Q4 2025, blended cost per acquisition ran $33.01 across Cyber 5 against $25.23 in mid October, while CPMs rose around 50% from the October low. Intent rose fast enough to absorb most of the inflation, which is why this block is expensive rather than inefficient.

Thursday: the early window

Early movers and list members. Volume is lower than the rest of the block and competition is already elevated.

This is the day to serve the people who already opted in, which is what the early access promise in your pre sale sequence was for. Keep broad prospecting restrained, because you are paying Friday prices for Thursday volume.

The job is converting warm demand and building the retargeting pool that the rest of the weekend will sell to.

Friday: peak volume

The highest traffic day of the block and the one with the least room for error. Everything you planned either works or does not.

Budget should be uncapped within your pacing rule rather than sitting on a daily limit that exhausts by lunchtime. Creative should be your proven winners rather than anything new. And the decision rhythm needs to be hourly rather than daily, against thresholds agreed in advance.

The one thing to resist is restructuring. A campaign edited on Friday morning spends the biggest day of the year relearning, which is why the operating rule across our portfolio is no cold launches in Q4.

Saturday: the quiet middle

Traffic softens and efficiency usually dips. This is the day most brands misread.

The temptation is to cut budget because the numbers look worse than Friday's. That compares the busiest day of the year with a normal Saturday and treats the difference as a failure. Judge Saturday against the previous Saturday instead.

It is also the best day of the block for gifting led messaging, because the people browsing are shopping for other people rather than hunting the headline deal.

Sunday: the build back

Demand recovers through the day as people return to decisions they deferred on Friday, and attention concentrates in the evening.

Weight the day toward the evening and lean on retargeting, since a large share of this traffic has already seen you over the previous three days. Deadline messaging starts to earn its keep here, because Cyber Monday is now close enough to be a real reason to act.

Monday: Cyber Monday

The second peak, skewed to desktop and to daytime, with higher intent and a shopper who has been comparing for four days.

This is where clarity beats everything. The buyer has seen a lot of offers and is deciding between them, so the ad and the page need to state plainly what the deal is, what it covers and when it ends. Accenture's October 2025 research found 85% of holiday shoppers said they were likely to abandon carts through frustration and option overload, and that pressure is at its highest on the last day of the block.

Plan the ending properly. Whether the offer stops, tapers or rolls into a December promotion should be decided now rather than at 9pm on Monday.

What should you decide before the freeze?

Five things, all structural, all due in the next few days.

The budget shape across the five days, including what happens if Friday overdelivers. The creative rotation, with distinct assets for the early, peak, gifting and deadline jobs rather than one offer asset stretched across all five. Daily thresholds for acting, and the person who acts. How the offer ends. And the basket mechanics, since 63.5% of Cyber 5 orders in our portfolio held two or more distinct products against 54.8% before peak, with units per order up 17% while average order value stayed roughly flat.

That last figure is the one to merchandise against. Shoppers add items rather than trading up, so a threshold that rewards the third item captures more than a deeper discount on the first.

How do you judge each day?

Against the same weekday rather than against Friday, and on new customer cost rather than on blended return.

Blended figures flatter during a promotion because existing customers get pulled forward, so an improving blended number can sit on top of a rising cost for genuinely new customers. The metric set that catches this is in the Q4 profit scorecard, and the thresholds for acting on it are in peak escalation rules.

The full trading calendar this sits in, phase by phase from October through January, is in the Q4 Profit Playbook, free and written for founder led DTC brands on Shopify at $5M to $30M. Webtopia trades peak daily for founder led brands as an ecommerce paid media agency.

Frequently asked questions

What dates are Cyber 5 in 2026?

Thursday 26 November to Cyber Monday 30 November, with Black Friday on 27 November.

Should I run the same offer across all five days?

The offer can hold while the message changes. Early access on Thursday, the headline deal on Friday, gifting on Saturday, deadline pressure on Sunday and clarity on Cyber Monday.

Why does Saturday perform worse than Friday?

Because Friday is the highest traffic day of the year and Saturday is a normal weekend day with elevated competition. Compare Saturday with the previous Saturday rather than with Friday.

Should I change campaigns during Cyber 5?

Change budgets and creative, leave structure alone. A campaign restructured mid block spends the most expensive days of the year relearning.

Is Cyber Monday still worth planning separately?

Yes. It skews to desktop and daytime, and the buyer has been comparing offers for four days, so clarity about terms matters more than depth of discount.
